She also spent more than two decades in the diamond trade, buying, selling, consulting and managing millions of dollars in inventory. A fourth-generation Northern Californian, Laena's connection to the Bay Area runs deep. Her ancestors traveled west by wagon train in the 1860s and settled in Sonoma County. Years later, her grandparents met and fell in love aboard the ferry between San Francisco and Berkeley while attending UC Berkeley- before the Bay Bridge was built. These deep roots continue to shape her appreciation for the ever-evolving culture, neighborhoods and rich history of the region she calls home.
