Originally from Sitka, Alaska, Alan grew up in Bellingham, WA, studied literature at UC Santa Cruz, and later got his MFA in creative writing from Saint Mary’s College. Since 2006, San Francisco has been home to him. As both a homeowner and a landlord, Alan understands the importance of community and the participation that goes with it.
