The Transbay Transit Center is nearly completed, and is now slated for a grand opening on the 12th of August. Previous construction delays have been attributed to an overall worker shortage, which shot up construction costs 50 percent in the past five years.

Bad news for travelers: the future is on hold for the highly anticipated tunnel system underneath. The Caltrain connection and proposed LA high-speed rail requires further funds to build and may take a couple more years to complete.

Data Disparities: How Much is Rent Really Appreciating?

How Much is Rent Really Appreciating?

Some of the world’s most widely used rental sites have just released some first and second quarter reporting on rental rates among rental units. And it’s causing some to scratch heads.

Hot Pads reports that the rent on two-bedroom apartments has increased by 2%. But Apartment List’s data suggests otherwise, with only an average of a $30 increase over the previous year. Zumper’s data seems supportive of Hot Pads’ — it reports one-bedroom rents gained 1.4%, and two-bedroom rates have jumped 4% in the last year.

One logical explanation for the disparity in figures could mean that data might be getting measured differently on various platforms.
